Privacy Policy

Agentic Bot Sitter is an independent editorial website operated by Alastair Fraser. This policy explains what data the site and its private reporting tools process, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Website measurements

The site records first-party page and interaction events such as the page path, content type, article slug, referring host, campaign labels, and selected engagement actions. A first-party cookie named abs_sid provides a long-lived anonymous browser identifier. It is not treated as a verified person, conventional session, or cross-site identity.

For bot detection and technical debugging, a raw browser user-agent string may be retained for up to 30 days and is then removed from the event record. The first-party analytics layer does not store full IP addresses, email addresses, names, comment bodies, form contents, precise location, advertising identifiers, or browser fingerprints. Cloudflare processes network requests as the site’s delivery and security provider; aggregate reports may include country and coarse device information.

Cookies and local browser storage

The abs_sid cookie may remain for up to one year. The site may also use local browser storage to remember a light or dark theme preference. These are first-party features. Agentic Bot Sitter does not run paid advertising or use third-party advertising cookies.

Feedback reports

If you submit the feedback form, the message and selections you enter are sent together with automatically attached technical context: the current page, viewport, browser information, up to five recent console errors, and session-storage key names (never their values). A snapshot of values from other forms on the page is excluded unless you explicitly select the option to include it; password fields are always excluded. Feedback is used to investigate reports and improve the site.

For abuse prevention, each archived feedback report includes an eight-character salted hash prefix derived from the request IP address, not the full IP address. A separate per-IP submission counter is used to enforce the hourly rate limit and expires after approximately one hour.

Comments and newsletter

If you submit a comment, the site receives the name, email address, response, and article identifier that you provide. Comments enter a moderation queue; the email address is used for administration and is not published with the comment. If you separately select the newsletter option, the name and email address are also submitted to the newsletter service so it can send the requested subscription confirmation and subsequent emails. Each newsletter email includes an unsubscribe option.

Google Search Console data

The private ABS Search Console Reporting tool requests only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly. It accesses Search Console property metadata and aggregated search information such as queries, pages, clicks, impressions, click-through rate, average position, country, device, sitemap status, canonical information, and indexation evidence.

This Google data is used only to maintain and improve Agentic Bot Sitter. It is joined to other measurements only by normalized page and date, not by a Google identity or a cross-site visitor identity. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared for unrelated purposes. Access and refresh credentials are stored privately with restricted filesystem permissions and are not published with the website.

Access, use, storage, and sharing of Google user data are limited to providing and improving this owner-operated Search Console reporting feature. Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, used to build advertising profiles, or transferred for unrelated purposes. Human access is limited to the site owner and operators who need it to maintain the site or reporting system, except when disclosure is required by law or the authorizing user gives explicit consent.

Agentic Bot Sitter’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Storage, retention, and service providers

Operational data is stored on private systems used to run the site and in Cloudflare infrastructure used for delivery, security, backups, and aggregate reporting. Search Console aggregates may be retained to compare performance over time. Data is limited to what is needed for site operation, diagnostics, historical reporting, and documented editorial experiments.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When the browser requests the font stylesheet and files from Google, Google receives ordinary web-request information such as the requesting IP address, browser user-agent, and referring page. Google processes that request under its own privacy terms.

Affiliate and third-party links

Some articles contain clearly disclosed affiliate links. The site may record that an affiliate link was shown or clicked, but it does not receive or claim proof of a retailer purchase. External sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not control.

Your choices

You can block or clear first-party cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. A Google account owner can revoke the reporting tool’s access from the Google Account connections page. To ask about stored data or request deletion of data reasonably associated with your submission or Google authorization, email bugs@agenticbotsitter.com.

Children

This site and its reporting tool are not directed to children under 13, and the site does not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
